Prof. Olusegun Omoniyi Ige has taken over as substantive Director General (DG) of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA).
Prof. Ige received the baton of leadership from the immediate past Acting DG of the Agency, Mr Umar Bature, who led Management and Staff to welcome the substantive Director General, on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Mr Bature is the Director, Department of Regional Geology, NGSA.
Until his appointment as the DG by President Bola Tinubu, Prof. Ige was at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, where he served as the Head, Department of Geology and Mineral Sciences. He also served as Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the recently concluded FAPSCON 2024 International Conference.
Consequently, the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin has congratulated the university don on his appointment.
A statement signed by the Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Baba Abdullahi Alafara, said: “The entire staff and students of the Faculty rejoice with him for the privilege and call to national service. We pray for God’s guidance and protections as he resumes duty on 1st August, 2024.”
