A foremost geologist and founder of a non-governmental organization, Initiative for Advancement of Mining Earth Science and Environmental Protection (IAMESEP) Mrs. Salau on Tuesday, 18th October 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the management of The Rock Post magazine at its Abuja corporate office. She was excitedly welcomed by the Editor-in-chief, Lukeman Abdulsalam Omuya, in company of other administrative personnel such as Moses Titus Okwuabuche, Logun Wasiu and Blessing Ola.
Mrs. Salau, a former Director with Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, NMCO had visited to solicit the cooperation of the magazine with her NGO, particularly in the area of publicity.
While commending The Rock Post magazine for contributing immensely to the promotion of the mining sector activities, she said as core professionals, the media organization has given the sector a millage by proper and timely dissemination of information around various value chains in mining industry.
According to Mrs. Salau, the media is a virile tool for sensitization of the masses especially those at the grassroot as it would educate them on what mineral resources are and their significance in boosting the economy.
She stressed that a good understanding of this will help to minimize unemployment and by extension reduce insecurity in the country as more youths will be meaningfully engaged in economic activities.
Speaking further, she revealed that some other concepts of the NGO is to midwife the first geo-journal which will be entirely a graphics pictorial representation of the sectoral activities.
In his response, the Editor-in-chief, The Rock Post magazine expressed appreciation to Mrs. Salau for the visit and extolled her sterling public service credentials.
He applauded her for offering her wealth of expertise in further enhancing the sector for effective performance even in retirement.
Mr. Omuya expressed the readiness of The Rock post magazine to collaborate with IAMESEP in the founder’s quest to embrace the much desired growth of the mining industry.
