Abuja,
As the long-awaited 2022 annual Nigeria Mining Week approaches, one of the major promoters, Vuka Group is seeking the partnership of Rock Post magazine, a leading specialised publication of the solid mineral sector to make the event a huge success, particularly in the area of sensitisation and publicity.
The Mining Week is a sought-after event that shapes the Nigeria’s mining sector with participation drawn from several parts of the world, including Europe, America, Asia and Middle East.
Introduced in 2017, it has grown from strength to strength, providing a fertile ground for various stakeholders in the solid mineral value chain to cross-fertilise ideas.
At a strategic meeting in Abuja on Friday, the Business Development Manager of Vuka Group, Kudakwashe Tsingano who led a high powered delegation of the company to Rock Post magazine corporate office expressed gratitude to the management of the specialised magazine for being at the forefront in promoting the yearly Mining Week since inception.
Tsingano remarked that the media has a crucial role to play on amplifying the gains being made in the sector in order to stimulate interest of stakeholders and attract the needed investment, a target the federal government has consistently harped on.
In his response the publisher and editor-in-chief Rock Post magazine, Mr. Abdulsalam Lukeman thanked the Vuka Group delegation for their visit, pointing out that mining industry is one of the sectors where a single entity cannot do it all.
He stressed that every stakeholder is important in the chain, expressing the readiness of Rock Post to offer any support it can to make the 2022 Mining Week memorable and boost a sectoral performance.
In a chat with newsmen shortly after the meeting, Tsingano said the decision to host the 3-day event at the expansive International Conference, Central Business District Abuja, Nigeria’s capital is an indication that interest is growing and a larger participation is expected from far and wide.
“We are appealing to everyone in the solid mineral value chain to get involved, participate. If you are a supplier, vendor, miner, artisanal & small scale miner, a license holder, we want you to be part of the Mining Week.
“It is a platform that has shaped the mining investment in Nigeria, this is the sixth edition of the event, it offers stakeholders opportunities to interact and engage physically, moving away from COVID-19 restrictions.
“The investors, financial institutions, policymakers and regulators, and many others should be part of this holistic engagement which is targeted at deliberating key and pertinent issues within the mining sector” he said.
With the theme, “Successes and Gains Within the Mining Sector”, Tsingano said it’s unique because it will create the environment for stakeholders to discuss on what has been achieved, challenges and how they can be better addressed to reduce the bottlenecks associated with mining.
He expressed optimism that far-reaching solutions will be proffered and participants go home with several take-aways fully satisfied.
Representatives are expected from Dubai, Ghana, South Africa and more, he said, adding that the number of countries that see Nigeria as a choice mining destination have increased, a development attributable to the success of Mining Week in the past six years.
Tsingano is optimistic that the theme of Mining Week 2022, “Successes and Gains Within the Mining Sector” is in line with the positivism and optimism being deployed to harness numerous potentials of the sector.
Commencing November 1—3, at ICC Abuja, Mining Week 2022 will feature indoor and outdoor product exhibition, high level strategic conferences, technical workshops targeted for small scale miners, matchmaking that will generate new partnerships for participants among others.
