A visionary leader, strategic thinker and renowned geoscientist, Dr. Garba’s tenure at NGSA was defined by unwavering commitment, transformative policies and groundbreaking achievements, all aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leading force in geological research, mineral exploration and resource management.

Dr. Garba’s career is a testament to dedication, innovation, and excellence. His impact on the growth, modernisation and global recognition of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector is profound. As he marks six decades of inspiring life, we celebrate not only his professional achievements but also his integrity, mentorship and tireless efforts in advancing Nigeria’s economic diversification through geology and mining.

Laying Foundation For Excellence

Born 60 years ago, Dr. Abdulrazak Garba exhibited an early passion for science and discovery. His academic journey laid a solid foundation for his distinguished career in geosciences. He pursued a degree in Geology, where he distinguished himself as a brilliant and inquisitive mind. His thirst for knowledge led him to advanced studies in geological sciences, earning a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Applied Geosciences.

Dr. Garba’s academic brilliance positioned him as an authority in mineral exploration, geological mapping, and resource management. Before assuming leadership at NGSA, he served in various prestigious roles, including:

– University lecturer and researcher, mentoring young geologists and conducting critical studies.

– Senior geoscientist at mining and exploration firms, contributing to mineral discoveries.

– Policy consultant for global organisations, advising on sustainable mineral exploration and resource management.

This rich background equipped him with the technical expertise and leadership acumen needed to transform NGSA and revolutionise Nigeria’s geological sector.
