Coming face to face with this majestic, imposing geologic edifice was an overwhelming, nearly staggering experience. What, to me, makes it rather spectacular is its dominance over the lush, sprawling plains!
Standing alone, taking in the scenery is really awe-inspiring.
This massive, dome-shaped, jaw-dropping, geo-tourist attraction is found in Wase Town, Wase local government area of Plateau State.
Described as an “island mountain” by Wikipedia, this phenomenon stands at an incredible height of 350 meters above its surroundings. It is, interestingly, one of ‘only’ five breeding places for Africa’s white pelican.
Sprouting from the horizon, the rock is visible, from a radius of about 40km, in my estimation. Geologically, the origin of the igneous plug has been traced to deep volcanic activity in the Benue Trough.
The sight is indescribable, as far as words are concerned.
It is just there; imposing, picturesque, majestic, alone!
